For anyone who appreciates ornamentation (in my case, painted decoration), a visit to this museum is a must. Photos are allowed without flash. I have been inside this museum twice. It is great. There is something for everyone. Younger folks will be bored stiff, however. My personal favorite is the oval-esque shaped playful ceiling form the Hotel de Verrue...however the creatures within the design are not apes (as described by this blog's well-meaning author)..but tiny graceful monkeys (perhaps Capuchin monkeys) and a variety of lovely birds and butterflies. One can almost miss this ceiling if one is not careful.

Thank you for introducing me to the Decorative arts museum, I will be going to Paris and Barcelona this Christmas. If you have any suggestions for places to go I would be happy to hear them. In turn I will try my best get the word out about Decorative arts- it just happens to be my field of study, thank you for a interesting article which featured many great works and objet d' art.

I can't be bothered with anything these days, but shrug. I just don't have anything to say recently.

[...] It might have a slightly dismissive title “decorative arts”, it might be focused on the domestic and small sacle, but at least a new museum in Paris introduces a great range of female characters, and gives them what should be a permanent place on the tourist trail. I’ve provided what is probably an overly detailed account on My Paris Your Paris. [...]
